Our facility is located in the Hudson Valley, NY, one hour south of Albany. It is easily accessible from New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Massachusetts. Despite its proximity to large urban areas, the setting is rural, with open country and beautiful vistas. The tranquility of The Horse Institute is conducive to reconnecting with nature and provides an ideal learning environment.

We have a well-appointed barn and indoor arena for year-around programs. The weather is best between April and November. In the winter, we take frequent breaks in the heated tack room, and in the great room at the lodge.

Our horses are wonderful and kind. We pay attention to every detail, including meals that feature the bounty of fresh local produce and organically grown meats and vegetables. We offer balanced choices of healthy, market fresh menus featuring seasonal produce.

Thousands of tired, nerve-shaken, over-civilized people are beginning to find out that going to the mountains is going home; that wildness is a necessity. -John Muir, 1898
